Jr./High School Biology/PE Teacher
Job Description
West Ridge Academy, a residential program located in West Jordan, Utah is seeking a Full-time Jr./High School Teacher. This individual will be part of a professional academic team that meets regularly to assess student needs and supports the student throughout the treatment process. This individual will provide instruction in the classroom and will work with students and families to provide services that meet the unique needs of our students. LOOKING FOR SMALL CLASSROOM SIZE? Responsibilities
Provide services that meet academic quality.
Use online classes or textbooks to create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
Formulates weekly lesson plans for each subject taught.
Supervises students in classroom each week day.
Abides by Behavior Management Techniques.
Corrects student assignments and returns them in a timely manner.
Acts as appropriate role model for students.
Completes transcripts, evaluations, and academic recommendations to be sent to each student s home school upon discharge
Keeps up-to-date academic records on each student.
Completes monthly written report for each student in a timely and thorough manner.
Monitors progress of students and supervises accurate record keeping of student progress.
Demonstrates knowledge of Special Education Regulations, Core curriculum and credit requirements.
Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and attends meetings regularly.
Maintains an overall good work attitude, promoting cooperation and professionalism in interactions with other staff members.
Qualifications
Biology degree in Secondary Education
License to teach in the State of Utah
3
years teaching experience working with assigned age group
Analyze tasks to be done and prioritize their importance
Maintain discipline with groups of students
Use the internet to locate educational sites and apply the information to use in the classroom
Construct lesson plans and the student assignment to go with them
Proficiency with Word processing, Excel, PowerPoint, and online grading toolsEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
