Structural Steel Fabrication Estimator

SME Steel, one of the largest steel fabricators/erectors in the western U.S., seeks a Structural Steel Fabrication Estimator to assist with an increasing volume of construction bids. We are currently fabricating projects in Utah, California and Nevada. We seek qualified estimators with previous steel experience but would also review applications from other construction/project estimators. Successful candidates will:
review & distribute drawings, specs & instructions to Sales, suppliers & detailers
compute & handle take-offs of all structural steel shown in architectural framing plans
transfer information from computer reports & vendor quotes to excel spreadsheets
fill out proposal letters including drawings, addenda, and inclusion & exclusion details.
work with fabtrol & excel spreadsheets to prepare bids and financial estimates.
- Experience with take-offs of structural steel, joists, and other steel components is required.
- Must posses solid geometric math skills & have proven competence with Word/Excel.
- Experience with fabtrol software is desirable.
- Must be able to assimilate multiple sources of materials and to organize complex data sets.
- Ability to work in a strong team environment.
- Must be able to handle tight timelines and work under pressure without mistakes.
Salary will be determined by education & experience

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
